The range of activities available in the region is limitless and the suggestions barely scratch the surface, however they are there to give you a start and let you dream of some of the ways you might want to spend your holiday.

Local Events 2007/8;

4-9 September . World Championship Mountain Biking at Fort William.  This is at the ski centre Anoch Mor, a massive spectacular event - we'll be going ourselves.  You are advised to book tickets in advance (£38 for a family), and consider cycling from Fort William for 6 miles along the new bike track, or taking a shuttle bus.

Local Events previous years;

Every Thursday night Ceilidh (pronounced Kayly) night in the Taynuilt Village Hall during the summer - 15 minutes walk

Mendehlsson Festival on Mull.  Usually first week in July (whole week), also one performance in Corran Hall in Oban (01631 567 333).  Barbara goes to this every year and it is always stunning.  Performances by young musicians in stately homes and castles around Mull and Iona during the day and in the evenings. 0131 625 8610 - Marilyn Jeffcoat, 10 Gloucester place, Edinburgh, EH3 63F

Taynuilt Highland Games - normally third Saturday in July - traditional Highland Games, Caber throwing, highland dancing, pipers, absolutely fantastic.  Also sporting events for children to take part.  Entrance fee about £6

beginning September - Dalmally Agricultural Show. Competitions for cattle, sheep, poultry, baking, paintings, photography, children's displays, and shinty.  More details from Mrs E McGrigor 01838 200 678.  Entrance fee £4 adults, £1 children, £2 senior citizens

Summer camp (football, badminton, tennis, treasure hunts and more) for kids at Atlantis Leisure in Oban - 01631 566 800.  Weekdays 10 am to 1 pm during most of summer holidays.  Ages 6-8 and 9-12 (15 per group), Last year was £25 per week per child, has to be booked in advance.
